MAC hosted a preview event for their new Shop/Cook colour story on the 29th of February 2012 which I attended together with my friends. For me it was the first time to visit the new MAC store at Westbahnhof and I was pretty excited to see what the new railway/shoppingcenter combination looks like.
Here are some impressions from the party, my thought on the party planning and of course the products I got.
First I would like to mention that I attended many MAC parties in the past and I really liked them. My friends and I always meet up beforehand for a coffee and a chat and go for dinner afterwards. This is our MAC party ritual. This time Blusherine, Nyota, Renate and Mirja hit the party-zone. We met a couple of bloggers there like e.g. Petra from Kirschblüte's Blog, Nagellackprinzessin, Guinevere from Anonymous Beautyholic and Swarina.
The new MAC collection is quite colourful and it is called Shop/Cook or something like that. I did not get the name or the concept behind that collection. Maybe someone could explain it to me, please!
Although we got there early we had to wait for about 30 minutes to get in there because they invited so many people. It was hot, it was uncomfortable and frankly without my friends I would have left because this party was way to crowded for my liking. This was the worst MAC party I ever attended, the party planning was poor, logistics even poorer and one of the items I wanted was already sold out when I got in (after 30 minutes of waiting).
MAC served drinks and mini-burgers, which Blusherine enjoyed but I did not try them because I was literally fighting my way through the masses to take a look at the collections. Don't get me wrong I like fighting ;-) but I'd better brought my full armor and my two-handed sword for this party.
We left after one hour of bumping into other people ready to have our after-party dinner and chill. When when we left, there were still people standing in line waiting to get in.
I really liked the supermarket shelf they placed in the middle of the store, it looked so bright and funny and displayed all the goodie-items you got with purchase.
I got the MAC-bag and my products were handed to me in this mac-package that looks like a laundry detergent box. Frankly I like the bright colours and I will display the box in my living room for a pop of colour.
Here is a little seak peak ...
As there are many limited collections out in March I purchased two nail polishes and two lipsticks. I already own the Kissable Lip Colours and Cremeblend blushes (and was not interested in the dark shade), the quads were nice but I have similar bright colours from other brands that I enjoy using and I am not a huge fan of the MAC Tendertones.
Here are the two nail polishes I purchased: Salad Dressed which is not the colour I gravitate to but I want to experiment with nail polishes so I gave it a try and Kid Orange which MAC discontinued. Kid Orange is one of my go-to colours in summer so I'm looking forward to using it.
You know me, I like bold colours so I purchased Quick Sizzle and though Watch me simmer was sold out at the party I got it as a gift.
Petra from Kirschblütes Blog posted true to life swatches, so I will link to her blog here, if you are interested.
I am very pleased with what I got and I will show you the rest of my purchase soon. Unfortunately we don't have internet access at the new house yet but this will change very soon.
Did you get anything from this collection? Did you attend the event in Vienna?
